GOH Leaders to Participate in Carbon Removal Discussions at PNW Climate Week
Brad Warren, CEO of Global Ocean Health (GOH), and Francesca Hillery, Director of Partnerships for GOH and the Indigenous Greenhouse Gas Removal Commission (IGGRC), will be participating in carbon removal conversations at PNW Climate Week next week.
On July 15, Francesca will moderate the “Finance, Governance, and Indigenous Participation in mCDR” panel during Oceans as Climate Heroes: mCDR Day, a full-day event exploring marine carbon dioxide removal approaches, including ocean alkalinity enhancement, seaweed, phytoplankton-based pathways, electrochemical systems, and the policy, finance, governance, and justice questions surrounding mCDR. Brad will also attend, including the ExOIS-hosted session on phytoplankton and mCDR, which connects with GOH’s ongoing work around North Pacific ocean iron fertilization field trial governance.
On July 16, Francesca will also moderate a panel during Carbon Removal Day: Cleaning Up Climate Pollution, focused on terrestrial carbon dioxide removal pathways including forest and soil carbon, biochar, biomass burial, enhanced rock weathering, direct air capture, and governance and environmental justice.
Across both events, GOH is glad to support conversations that bring Tribal rights, Indigenous leadership, governance, and community priorities into the growing carbon removal field.
