Southeast Alaska has emerged as a hotspot for ocean acidification. New resources from the Alaska Ocean Acidification Network (AOAN) and UAF’s Alaska Center for Climate Assessment and Policy (ACCAP) offer fresh insights into what’s happening in coastal waters and how communities are responding.

AOAN Partners Slated to Lose Funding

The President's proposed budget reduces or eliminates multiple NOAA programs that serve Alaska, including the Alaska Ocean Observing System that coordinates the Alaska Ocean Acidification Network. These cuts would directly affect ocean acidification monitoring and community engagement across the state.
